Our History

Learn More about Your Qualified Counsellor & Astuteology Founder: Maggie Egan!

Who is Maggie, & Where is She From?

I was born in London, in the UK. I grew up with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, mini-skirts, middy-skirts, bellbottoms, and huge platform shoes that I fell off many times. London, for sure, was a fun place to grow up in; it was always ahead of its time.

I settled in the Gold Coast in 2007. Prior to that, I jetted in and out of Australia, visiting my big sister, who made Australia home back in the ’70s. These days, I can’t imagine ever living anywhere else except where I am today.

Maggies Golf Career in the Making

Why golf, you might ask!

You could say it’s in my DNA, having started swinging a golf club as soon as I could stand. Blame it on my dad! He was a golf fanatic with a scratch handicap and was determined his daughter was going to play great golf too. He floodlit our back garden so we could practice when it was dark, much to the horrors of our neighbours who failed to understand his passion and determination. When it became too cold, he converted the garage into an indoor driving range with heating; don’t worry about the car outside in the snow and rain; mastering the swing was far more important. I must say it was fun, especially as his idea of homework was a round of golf. What more could a kid ask for!

  • Things I enjoy

I love to watch all the major golf and tennis championships. I enjoy watching soccer, especially the big events, like the World Cup. I don’t mind the rugby either, but cricket… sorry guys, I haven’t got my head around that one. I also enjoy taking the dog out for walks, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing Sudoku, catching up with friends for coffee or lunch and last but not least, reading a good detective novel.

  • Adversity

I am where I am today because I have needed to face and overcome personal adversity and major losses that have impacted the way I live my life and my career. At first, the losses were hard to accept. Still, those challenges have unquestionably given me a greater depth of understanding and the ability to help others achieve their goals and pursue their life’s desires.

Letting go of what we once had in order to go in pursuit of something new is, without doubt, a challenge, but one that brings new and rewarding energies into your life. It replaces the things you have lost, only those things are a bit different, and in time, they are just as good if not better than the things you lost.

Remember: ‘We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.’
