The Magic of Losing Weight! What makes you fat?

admin admin

How to lose weight and get fit is one of the top questions we get asked during our consulting process.

Our weight status can influence our well-being as well as our mental health.

Weight gain is insidious; it starts to creep on when we are not looking and can be very hard to get rid of. Menopause can also cause a woman to put on weight, with excess fat appearing to be glued on forever as our hormones fluctuate!

Let’s be honest. Losing weight can be hard, but if you have someone to help you on your journey, it becomes a lot easier.

We provide motivation, counselling, and guidance, and we are there to celebrate your wins and provide motivation to continue.

Weight gain is influenced by your diet and your exercise level.

What you eat and how much you eat.

Those who have an active life need more food, but as your lifestyle changes, you need to rethink your diet.

The big factor is how much activity you are now involved in.

Often it is easy to slip into a sedentary lifestyle without realising it. Any physical disability compounds the problem and despair can settle over you like a wet blanket.

The game of golf can meet your needs emotionally, physically, and mentally.

The solution is to change your diet and increase your activity. While this is a painfully obvious statement, please hear me out.

The secret is to do it slowly and steadily. It’s only natural that you want the weight gone, now, today! But the weight gain took time so it makes sense that it will take a bit of time to get rid of it.

Our advice is to take weight loss one day at a time, one step at a time. We can help you plan a routine that will work for you – one that is built with your preferences in mind.

Regardless of your age or any disability, exercise can still be an option for you albeit at a different level of participation.

Learning an exercise that you enjoy and will stick with is a great start.

  • Golf is one such exercise or sport. It will get you out and about and you will make new friends and enjoy mixing with others in similar circumstances. The outing and communication will improve your mindset and provide a more positive mental attitude.
  • Walking around the golf course is a gentle exercise in itself. Learning to play provides flexibility, coordination, balance and works a wide range of muscles which will burn off some of the excess weight that you are concerned about.

Golfers tend to stay motivated to continue playing due to the enjoyment they get from the outing, the social interaction golf encourages, and the sheer pleasure they get from walking around a beautifully tended golf course. It works for me and it will work for you.

If you would like to try golf, let us know and we can help integrate you into the sport.

Diet Adjustment and Steady Exercise can reduce your weight.

Replacing high-calorie choices with lower-calorie choices is easy if you do it slowly – one food at a time. Rather than deprive yourself of everything you enjoy in one mighty sweep, we suggest that you make slow changes that are easier to maintain for life.

The same process applies to exercise to help you lose weight. Find an activity that you enjoy and slowly introduce that into your life.

Benefits of Losing the Fat.

Apart from feeling and looking better, weight loss also has many other benefits.

  • Several studies noted that weight loss improves arthritis pain. A recent study of 87 older adults who had knee arthritis found the weight loss group reduced their pain and improved their functioning significantly over the control group that did not lose any weight
  • Weight loss improves your immune system making your positive response to illness and disease more effective
  • It reduces stress on the heart and lowers high blood pressure
  • The increase of optimism and a positive mindset
  • Improved flexibility and limb movement.

We can offer support during your weight loss process. Losing weight can be a lonely process but if you have a support member on your team cheering you on, the pathway is easier.

Counselling and guiding you along your weight loss path will keep you motivated to reach your goal.

When it comes to changing habits, there are often mixed feelings. We all have habits . Some good, some not so good and others that are just plain bad for us. However, it’s our habits that identify strong elements of our personality and who we are as people. Habits also serve to put elements of our routine on ‘autopilot’ in order to free up our thinking and decision making. Now, this is a good thing if you are doing the same thing every day and your routine perfectly matches the lifestyle you want to live. When we are not happy with our lives, want to improve our situation or want to improve ourselves, this is when our habits can really hold us back. Because most habits are created and carried out subconsciously, they can be very hard to break. Hard but not impossible. And if you want to be the best version of you and change your life for the better then changing habits is one fundamental element you must navigate. Read on to find out what my top strategies are for changing habits to be the best version of you:
